ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County Council members hear
from the public this week on a proposal for a slots parlor near
Arundel Mills Mall.
The Arundel Mills mall bid is the largest the state has
received, accounting for 4,750 of the 6,550 slot machines proposed.
Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. says the state's budget
is in the hands of county council members, which he says is "kind
of scary."
Council members, who will hold a public hearing Thursday, are
split over the proposal.
